Hops Flower

Botanical & Other Names: Humulus Lupulus, Common Hop, English Hop, European Hop
Properties:  Anti-inflammatory and Antispasmodic

American Indians use Hops as a sedative to promote sleep under restlessness and overstressed conditions. Hops contain Dimethyl carbinol, a sedative agent used for inducing sleep. The older a hop flower gets, the more concentrated its sedative ingredients become.

Women who suffer from painful menstrual symptoms often take Hops to quell insomina, and because of its antispasmodic effects, Hops can reduce the pain associated with craps and headaches experienced during menstruation.
